Nathan Famous hotdog eating contest is one of the United State’s greatest and most disgusting traditions. These poor hotdogs are devoured by professional eaters, who have advanced to this stage through winning various competitions at state and county levels.
If you quantify the world’s greatest performers/athletes as those who dominate their respective sports, Joey Chestnut can be considered one of the most dominant figures in American competitions (or if you consider this a sport, then in sports history).
Since ending his rival’s , Takeru Kobayashii, reign in 2007, Chestnut has since beaten world records and won 6 straight titles.
It was no different in 2013, as he won with a record 69 hot dogs on his way to his 7th straight title.
In fact, Chestnut’s victory appeared to be a forgone conclusion as he was carried to the stage prior to the competition in a box, similar to how roman emperors were carried through the streets:
