Mississippi State Advances to CWS Final

With just 4 teams left in the College World Series, one teams fate was on the line facing elimination on Friday. The other team, however, were the unranked Mississippi Bulldogs who just needed one more win to advance to their first ever Collegiate Final in Omaha.  The Bulldogs earned a hard fought victory against the #3 ranked Oregon State Beavers 4-1 behind solid defense and some timely hitting.  Senior Right-hander Kendall Graveman led the way, allowing 1 run over the first 5 and 2/3 innings of play. The bullpen locked it down from there, getting more than enough run support from its offense.  Junior Center fielder C.T. Bradford put the Bulldogs on the board with an RBI infield single in the 4th.  Plenty of insurance came in the 5th when Junior Right fielder and 1st round draft pick Hunter Renfroe (13th overall, San Diego Padres) drove a hanging curveball over the left field fence to put them up for good.

This Mississippi State team is a team you find yourself rooting for; ESPN is constantly showing little clips and videos of what great team camaraderie they have.  Their new claim for fame is not their starting lineup but actually a few bench players they have, known as the “Bench Mob” in charge of keeping things loose in the dugout and cheering on their teammates.  The Bench Mob has gone as far as making their own music video and developing a pre-game ritual of getting in a huddle and actually throwing one of their teammates out of the dugout.  Check it out for yourself:
