The 2011 National League MVP received some bad news on Tuesday after a second opinion on his injured right hand. His injury, an inflamed nerve and general bruising in his thumb, was confirmed but his return from the DL after the minimum 15 games seems a lot less likely now. Hand Specialist Don Sheridan sees about 1 month as an appropriate timetable for Braun to return, with potential for the rehab to take up until July’s All-Star break. Braun, who had continued to swing the bat and keep his arm loose since re-injuring the hand on a June 9th game against the Phillies, will be completely shut down until fully healed. Long-time Brewers prospect Logan Schafer has done an adequate job filling in for Braun and will continue to start in Left Field until the Milwaukee slugger returns. This is Ryan Braun’s first career stint on the disabled list.
