Nathan Tilford, high school freshman, is offered scholarship form USC’s Lane Kiffin.

Nathan Tilford is not even 15 yet and he already has a full ride to a premiere college, the University of Southern California. Smart or stupid? Let’s delve into the story a little more.

With recruiting being a very cutthroat business, it makes sense that top universities and colleges attempt to beat their rivals to the punch. It is not like USC has not done their research. Tilford attended USC’s skill camp, where he was observers by coaches and staff. The 6’2, 190 pounder is a physical specimen at his young age.

While yes, it is a risk to offer such a young, undeveloped, and inexperienced athlete a full scholarship. It is not out of the question to imagine how tall and how muscular this kid can get throughout high school.

From the kid’s perspective, he gets a guaranteed free college education. For USC, a projectable youngster that could wind up being a steal. It will be interesting to see if recruitment continues this trend.
