Opening Day Round-up

Well here is what we learned from Opening Day:

The Astros will go undefeated

The Mets have a lethal offense, averaging 11 runs/game

Bryce Harper will hit 324 home runs

Clayton Kershaw will hit around 30 home runs

ESPN will not stop talking about Bryce Harper

Ok, I’ll stop being facetious. Except for the last one, we learned nothing conclusive about anything that will happen during the season. However here is some interesting tidbits from today’s Opening Day Games:

Bryce Harper hits two home-runs and shows off his power.

Stephen Strausburg makes his first start since being shut down and dazzles: 7 IP, 3 Hits, 0R, 3Ks and retired an impressive 19 straight batters. The Natinals win 2-0. (Yes I spelled it incorrectly)

Jeff Samardzija shows off his young arm in win against the Pirates: 8IP, 2 Hits, 0R, 9 Ks, and retired 14 straight batters at some point. Cubs win 3-1.

The Yanks were romped 8-2 at home, with big fatty (C.C.) giving up 4 runs in 5 IP. Majority of the damage came from the Red Sox top 2 guys, Ellsbury and Victorino, combining for 5 RBIs.

The Mets improved to 34-18 on Opening Day, highest winning percentage in baseball on Opening Day. 11-2 victory- Cowgill a grand salami, Niese argued his way to 6 2/3 IP, 2 Runs, 2BBs, 4k.

Justin Verlander earned his first win in six tries on opening day, pitching five innings in 17mph wind. Detriot 4-2.

The White Sox out-hit the Royals 8-7, and that difference was the same difference in score, as they also take the game 1-0. James Shield 0-1, 8IP, 1R, 6K. Chris Sale 1-0  7 2/3 IP, 7 K.

The Brew Crew won over the Rockies, scoring 3 runs in the eighth and winning on a sac fly in the 10th, capturing their first Opening Day win since 2003.

Hamels struggled giving up 5 runs in five innings, including three home runs: Freeman, Justin Upton, and Dan Uggla. Braves 7- Phillies 5

Angels come away with a win in 14 innings after loading the bases and winning on a two-run Chris Iannetta single.

King Felix pitched well, in 7 2/3 innings, recorded eight strike outs, 1 BB, and 3 Hits. Mariners 2-0 A’s

Arizona put on a hit parade with 15 hits and Ian Kennedy 7IP, 8Ks= Diamondbacks 6, Cardinals 2
